Danny Way X-Games Crash

So do you remember this brutal crash by Jake Brown last year during the X Games Big Air competition??

Well the entertainment has started again on this year’s X Games competition, but this time it was Bob Burnquist and Danny Way who provided the real excitement Thursday night.

Jake Brown soared over the ramp’s long 70-foot gap and did a basic 540 spin over the quarterpipe section, landing it to a huge standing ovation and taking the early lead.

“They said you’re going to be first on TV, you better make it,” Brown said after the run.

Moments after Brown’s run, Way had successfully crossed the ramp’s 70-foot gap when he shot up the quarterpipe and soured higher than any normal person could ever imagine.  But on his way down, he hit his ankles on its lip and fell headfirst to the ground.  Not a pretty sight to say the least.

Danny Way lay still for about five minutes in a scene eerily familiar to Browns’ just a year earlier.

In true X Games spirit, Way got back up and attempted the rest of him jumps, clearly hoping to simply live another day.

“Everything is hurting,” Way said after the run. “Just trying to get through this thing and stay alive, I guess.”
