Hellboy II: The Golden Army Tops Box Office During Debut Weekend
“Hellboy II: The Golden Army” stood on top at the box office this weekend as it raked in $35.9 million in domestic theaters during its debut.
The sequel, staring Ron Perlman as the superhero demon, edged out another superhero oddity, “Hancock.” The Will Smith flick brought in $33 million to push its two week total to an impressive $165 million, not bad for a homeless superhero.
Taking third this weekend with $20.6 million was Jules Verne-inspired 3-D film “Journey to the Center of the Earth” starring Brendan Fraser.
Eddie Murphy’s latest bomb, “Meet Dave”, totaled a dismal $5.3 million.
