Fab Five McKinney Texas Cheerleader Scandal (photos)
If you missed the real-life story of McKinney’s misbehaving high school cheerleaders, the latest news is that there is a naughty documentary about the Fab Five McKinney cheerleaders which will premiere on Lifetime in August 2008.
Actress Ashley Benson will play a naughty Texas cheerleader while Tatum O’Neal plays the school principal.
The story is designed to show that everyone has a little something to learn from McKinney’s best-known daughters about the consequences of bad behavior, executive producer Orly Adelson said.
“It’s not here to judge anybody,” Ms. Adelson said. “It’s a lesson we can all learn.”
To recap the real story: Ms. Ward told the media in October 2006 that she resigned as cheerleading coach because administrators stymied her efforts to discipline her unruly charges, specifically a group of seniors known as the “Fab Five.”
Among the more saucy allegations, she said the girls posted a photo of themselves holding phallus-shaped candles in a condom store on MySpace, broke the dress code, talked back to teachers and generally ran amok. The supposed ringleader happened to be the principal’s daughter.
The district hired an investigator who backed up many of the reports, and eventually, Principal Linda Theret and Assistant Principal Richard Brunner lost their jobs over the flap. For their part, the girls have said their coach was immature and their behavior was taken out of context.
Ms. Adelson said she believes the movie comes fairly close to portraying what really happened.
UPDATE:
Now that the movie has been aired, please join in on the discussion and let us know your thoughts about the Fab Five McKinney cheerleader scandal.
All I have to say, is that these girls make me want to PUKE! They seriously give girls a bad name and truly, how could you ever be that mean in life? I really just do not get it. I hope our younger generations watched this movie and took note on what NOT to be like in life.
