Louis William Conradt Jr.’s Family Wins Lawsuit Against NBC
This is just wrong at every angle you look at it.
The producers of “To Catch a Predator” — the sensational TV journalism series that led to a sensational $100 million lawsuit — will not be going to trial.
For an amount that has not been disclosed, NBC has settled with the family of a Texas prosecutor, Louis William Conradt Jr., who shot and killed himself when the NBC production crew, accompanied by a SWAT team, went to Conradt’s house last November to arrest him.
Condradt’s sister sued NBC in the SDNY for $100 million, claiming, among other things, intentional infliction of emotional distress.
This just gives people looking for easy money that all they need to do is sue these big companies for tons of money, and wait for them to settle out of court. It’s ridiculous that a pedophiles family can win millions of dollars over nothing.

This is CRAZY! As a parent of a child that has been molested this sickens me to no end. Him killing himself is such a cop out, what about the children that he hurt and was still trying to hurt. Believe me the pain of that is far worse than death. I hope that some of the children he hurt come forward and sue his family and they get the money. But I must say it is very hard to prove child molestation. My daughters molester got off because of lack of evidence and she waited ayear to tell us. That was what the judge said. Most children never tell or wait years to tell we are lucky she did tell so soon after and we were able to get her help. Just know that GOD has gotten justice and that scum is burning in hell. Her molester was DAVID KEITH WALKER if you know him beware!!!
P.S. I hope the rest of the child Predators kill themself if they ever get that same knock on the door. Cause if this happens to your child in Georgia the molestor/predator will get cut loose or a slap on the wrist. This case just proves how bad our “system” is broke.
you meant to say alleged pedophile… I don’t think he was convicted… idiot
Look — NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE could or would condone adults preying on kids for sex. But what Dateline was doing was setting people up and ruining their lives in a situation where NO kids were ever involved. People were not only publicly humiliated (which they arguably deserved), they were charged with sex-crimes which is basically a life-sentence of being a registered sex offender even though the entire “crime” was just a scam created by NBC for entertainment.
This poor guy killed himself over this. Clearly, if NBC felt it was OK to create fake online profiles and drag people into a meeting before hidden cameras just to make a buck on a TV show, then NBC should pay for consequences that are an obvious and forseeable result of the sham they were creating. It’s that simple.
It’s like a TV based on this idea — let’s leave a box on the sidewalk with some kind of label on the side implying that the box contains something valuable…say a new plasma TV. Instead of actually containing a TV, the box is rigged with explosives so anyone who tries to take it is instantly blown to bits. Then, let’s rig up some hidden cameras and watch the fun unfold!
Under NBC’s logic, there would be nothing wrong with this since stealing is, of course, a crime, so anyone blown up by trying to steal the box basically deserved what they got. Sorry, but sometimes the ends don’t justify the means, and this is one situation where altough it may be a close call, I just think the law should not allow a TV show to ruin people’s lives just for sport and/or entertainment. There has to be a line drawn somewhere.
(Yes, I understand this post will be attacked as an absurd view, but it’s just my 2 cents worth).
I won’t attack you, David. You were dead on!
