Vanity Fair to Gina Gershon: We’re not sorry over Bill Clinton story
Vanity Fair refuses to issue any sort of retraction for their Bill Clinton profile that implied the former President has been having an affair with Gina Gershon.
Gershon’s lawyers at L.A. celebrity law firm Lavely and Singer demanded a retraction from the mag, saying that “rumor mongering was substituted for fact-checking. It is apparent that Vanity Fair was intent upon publishing unsubstantiated rumors, and that it avoided learning the true facts so that the truth would not get in the way. Such conduct is reckless and malicious, giving rise to substantial liability for defamation.”
But now the mag is biting back. A Vanity Fair spokeswoman says, “Todd Purdum’s article does not indicate that former President Bill Clinton had an improper relationship with Gina Gershon. The story merely examines the concerns of some of Clinton’s aides about reports of his behavior. We don’t believe that any correction is warranted.”
It’s on people!
