George Takei to Marry Partner, Brad Altman, in California
George Takei, the original Sulu from “Star Trek,” announced over the weekend that he and his longtime partner Brad Altman will tie the knot this summer in California.
This announcement, like that from talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, comes on the heels of the California Supreme Court ruling that same-sex marriage is now legal.
“Our California dream is reality,” he wrote on his Web site. “At long last, the barrier to full marriage rights for same-sex couples has been torn down.”
Takei, who also had a role on “Heroes” last year, first came out in 2005 in order to talk against a veto by California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger of a same-sex marriage law.
