It has been reported that 8 students have been expelled from a Newberry, SC middle school for having sex while on a school sponsored trip.
District officials say it happened in April, when the students, all aged 13 to 14 years old, snuck out of their hotel rooms the last night of the annual eighth grade trip to Washington, D.C. and into other students’ rooms to have sex.
It has been reported that it was 5 girls who snuck into a room that was shared by 4 boys that were sleeping at the time.
One of the boys said, “The chaperone’s were supposed to check in on the student’s at midnight, but that did not end up happening.”
There were 20 chaperone’s on the trip that included both school employees and volunteers.
One mother says, “They could have just gave them 5 days and let them come back. But they are gonna take them out for the school year, it just ain’t fair.”
The parents of the 8 student’s are also in an uproar because of the 10 children were in the room, only 8 were expelled.
“Students are expected to follow the same code of conduct whether on the school property or on a school trip,” said the superintendent of the school. “If we find any misconduct by the chaperone’s, they will be punished in the same manner”
“I feel like I should have one more chance to go back to school,” says one of the boys expelled.
Is the school’s punishment on the children to harsh?? Let us know your thoughts below!

UPDATE: The eight students have not been expelled. Officials say they’ll be allowed to advance to high school next fall, as long as they’ve already made the grade.
So basically just a little slap on the wrist for the students.
