The cost of mailing a letter goes up a penny to 42 cents today, the latest in what are expected to be annual price adjustments by the Postal Service.
A new law regulating the Postal Service makes it easier to raise rates as long as the agency does not exceed the rate of inflation. Rates can be adjusted each May.
But, if you do not want to pay the extra penny, go purchase a Forever Stamp.
The Forever stamp remains valid for first-class postage regardless of increases and will not go up in price!
