Jay Leno Apologizes to Gay Community

Jay Leno

Jay Leno released an apology to the gay community after gay rights organization GLAAD pushed him to do so.

In the statement, Leno said:

“In talking about Ryan’s first role, I realize that what I said came out wrong,” Leno said. “I certainly didn’t mean any malice. I agree it was a dumb thing to say, and I apologize.”

I watched the clip of the show and did not think for one bit Leno had a lack of respect for the gay community. If you missed the clip, click here to watch it.

I do agree that Leno did put Ryan on the spot and made him uncomfortable, but he was not being “derogatory” in any way. I just don’t why people get so mad over situations like this. It’s absolutely ridiculous, and if nothing else, they should be happy that being gay is now open enough to joke around about it on national television.
